SPECIAL PICK-UP
Special Pick-up will resume on Wednesday’s only. (If a holiday falls on another day during the week, there will be NO special pick-up that week). For special pick-up, you must call the Village Office at (434-2922) by Tuesday before 4 p.m. to be added to the Wednesday schedule. This is a homeowner service for household items larger than normal trash and NOT to be used by contractors doing work at Village residences. PROHIBITED ITEMS include: Televisions, Cans containing Wet Paint (air dry before disposal), Computer Monitors, Medical Waste, Propane Tanks, Contractor’s materials (contractor responsible for disposal), and Tires. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to dispose of these items themselves and not leave curbside. The DPW will NOT pick up these items.
TRAFFIC ALERT
Following several years of studying, planning and design work, we are pleased to announce that construction of the pedestrian/bicycle connection from Menands to the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail (MHBHT) is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2020 (weather permitting).
Per the NYSDOT, this work will include reallocation of the Exit 6 connector’s eastbound pavement to provide a shared use path protected by a box beam barrier, construction of the new path sections along the eastbound connector, passing through a culvert under the southbound I-787 onramp, eventually connecting to the MHBHT. Other work includes signage and pavement markings to be upgraded along Broadway (Rt 32) and the I-787 connector, milling, paving and new ADA sidewalk ramps along Broadway, paving and some full depth reconstruction from the Broadway/I-787 connector intersection, along the connector and on the 4 ramps connecting to and from I-787, at Exit 6.
Most of the construction will take place during daytime hours, 7 AM to 5 PM but may also take place between 8 PM and 6 AM Sundays through Thursdays. In addition, this project will require that each part of the current Exit 6 connector and ramp system, will be closed at a separate stage of construction. It is expected that all construction of this project will take place during the 2020 construction season. We look forward to seeing it through completion as it will be a great asset to our Village.
Additionally, DOT has announced I-787 Paving, between Exit 3 (Rensselaer/Empire State Plaza) to Exit 7 (Route 378/Troy-Loudonville-Menands). Given the importance of this heavily traveled roadway to area circulation, construction activity will take place weekday nights (Monday night through Saturday morning). The allowable lane closure time periods vary depending on direction and location, but
generally, single-lane closures will be allowed between 8 PM and 7 AM, double-lane
closures will be allowed between 9 PM and 6 AM, and ramp closures will be allowed
Monday through Thursday nights (i.e., into Friday morning) between 8 PM and 6 AM.
The current expectation is that all work should be completed by the end of June (weather permitting).
As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding during these important construction projects.
